The federal government is giving a boost to people who can’t afford to buy their own food.
The new Food Incentives Program (FIP) will see some low-income people get a boost from the federal government, which is investing $50 million in the program to help people buy breakfast foods.
The money is to be paid back through higher tax credits.
The program will give people up to $2,000 in federal tax credits for groceries purchased at or above a grocery store, as well as $500 for groceries that have more than $2.50 in value.
That’s about $150 per person.
The food stamp program has been a long-time focus of the federal Conservatives.
The Liberals promised to roll out a full-blown FIP program, and the Conservatives promised to expand it in the new year.
The Liberal government is now making it more cost-effective to get groceries for those who can afford them.
The government will also spend $100 million to support the food stamp programs of more than 4,000 food banks in the coming months.
It also says the program will help people who have difficulty paying for food, especially people who live on low incomes.
The FIP is a federal government program that was designed to encourage people to buy food for their families.
People in poverty pay for their own groceries and can get food stamps, which provide cash assistance to low- and moderate-income Canadians.
The Food Injections Program was introduced by former Conservative prime minister Stephen Harper.
The Conservatives had promised to extend it to more Canadians, but the Liberals ended up scrapping that plan after the 2015 election.
They also changed the program in 2020, allowing some recipients to get food assistance even if they didn’t need it.
Under the new program, the federal and provincial governments will give money to eligible low-wage earners.
It’s a different way to help those who are struggling to get by.
The Federal Food Program is already available to Canadians in all provinces, but only to people with income between $20,000 and $39,999.
Those who earn more than that are eligible for federal food assistance, as are people with an income between 50,000 to 99,999, which includes some people with disabilities.
For some people, food assistance is a way of life.
The Harper government gave food stamp recipients the option to apply for a one-time cash assistance payment of $50 to $100.
The federal program is intended to help low-paid Canadians get through a difficult time, said Karen Loomis, executive director of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives.
“People are not going to wait around for months for this,” she said.
The idea is to make it easier for people to find a job.
“This is a great way to ensure that people who need help are able to get a job, and it’s also a way for employers to hire people,” Loomi said.
“We’re going to work with governments and labour unions and community groups to ensure this is not just a benefit for the government, but for the economy.”
The federal Liberals have said the program is about helping low-skilled Canadians.
“For a lot of people, their ability to buy groceries is really a barrier,” said Liberal MP Rob Nicholson, a former minister of social services.
“They have to make their own purchases.
They have to do it all by themselves.”
But he said it is not a government benefit.
“I do think it’s good to be able to pay our own way.
I think it would be nice to be offered a way that is going to give you a little bit more money to buy what you need,” he said.
