The Food Sensitivity Test, or FST, is a popular way to identify food allergies.
If you eat a certain number of eggs a day, for example, and your body reacts to the eggs differently, you can test your tolerance to eggs by testing your sensitivity to egg protein, a protein that can be found in eggs.
If your reaction is moderate or severe, the test can help you determine if you’re allergic to egg proteins or not.
But the FST is not 100% accurate.
Many people react differently to egg foods, and some food allergy tests can be unreliable.
Here are some tips to make the Fst more accurate.1.
Ask the person about their eating habits.
Many foods are often hard to find, and food allergies are often misdiagnosed.
In a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers from the University of Wisconsin at Madison asked a group of people to rate the quality of their meals and then rate how much they liked them on a scale from 1 to 10.
For example, a person with a mild egg allergy rated their meal as average, while someone with a moderate egg allergy would rate it as very good.
In contrast, a participant with a severe egg allergy could rate it average or below average, and one with mild or moderate food allergies rated it above average.2.
Tell the person how to eat.
You can’t tell a person that he or she has an egg allergy if you don’t ask.
“You can’t really tell if a person is allergic to eggs,” says James R. Davis, MD, PhD, a professor of medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and author of Egg Sensitivity Tests.
“There’s no way to know whether you’ve tested positive until the person has had the test done.”
This can be a challenge because food allergies often involve eating in different contexts, like the kitchen or at a restaurant.
Davis recommends that if you find that someone is not eating the same thing often, it may indicate that he/she may have food allergies to other food allergens.
“So we can’t just say, ‘Oh, you eat egg-less meals.
We need to be more specific about what you eat,'” Davis says.3.
Tell a story about what your reaction was.
The FST isn’t a perfect test, but it is a very reliable way to determine if your food allergy is food-specific.
It can be useful if you are unsure whether you have food sensitivities to eggs, and you want to know if you can be tested.
“It’s not a perfect tool, but we know that the F ST can be used to confirm food allergy,” Davis says, adding that the test also has been used in food allergies tests to detect food allergies of unknown origin.4.
Don’t use the F, or the test, for general information.
It’s important to remember that the testing is not a test of food sensitivity, but of what foods cause food allergies in the first place.
“The testing isn’t telling you that you have an egg or that you’re a good egg eater,” Davis notes.
The Food Ingredient Analysis Laboratory, or FACEL, is an FDA-approved testing laboratory that has been providing food testing for many years.
FACEL is not FDA-certified, so it’s important that you test with the F or FACel.

Do not rely on the test results to diagnose your food allergies or to treat your food intolerances.
“F ST can help us identify food allergenses that are likely to occur, but the real value of it is that it can help diagnose food allergies that are not specific,” Davis explains.
The FACEL also can help determine the presence of food sensitities that are related to food allergies, such as food allergies associated with an underlying medical condition, which can be helpful if your condition is very severe.
“We’re not saying that it’s a cure for food allergy, but when you’re having a hard time controlling food allergies and you’ve got a medical condition that causes food allergies … that’s a real potential diagnosis that you might be able to make,” Davis adds.6.
Don, don’t eat eggs.
Some people find that eggs are a good food source, but if you do, the F test is not the answer.
“Most people don’t like to eat eggs, but there’s a good chance that you can eat them,” Davis cautions.
“If you’re not sure whether you can handle egg protein or not, it’s probably OK to go ahead and eat them, but just don’t make it your first meal.”7.
